MahJongCon

MahJongCon is short for ‘mahjong connect’, a puzzle game that will definitely give your brain a good workout. Whether you spell it “mahjong” or “mahjongg,” this classic Chinese single-player board game has been challenging players for well over a decade!

Enjoy colorful graphics and a fun soundtrack that mixes traditional music with contemporary flourishes.

How do you play MahJongCon?

Connect the matching tiles to clear them from the board. Look for playable tiles on the board. Playable tiles are free on the right or left side and not covered, wholly or partially, by any other tile. Select one, and then find another tile with a matching image.

The tiles can only be matched if the line that runs between them makes no more than two 90-degree (that is, right-angled) bends. The line is also not allowed to pass through any other tiles but must go around them. The only exception is when two identical tiles are directly next to one another. Those tiles can also be linked to create a ‘meld’.

Matched tiles will vanish from the board. In some levels the tiles will remain stationary, but in others the tiles will slide up, down, or to the sides to fill the empty spaces.

Time limit and difficulty

You’ll need to create melds quickly, before the time on the bar at the bottom of the  screen runs out. At the start of the game, you’ll have quite a lot of time, and creating melds will restore quite a generous portion of time as well.

There are 12 levels, however, and the further you get, the less time you will have to spare. You’ll also receive less time for melds in the later and more difficult levels. In addition, more unique tiles will be added to the board as you progress through the game, making it even harder to complete all the melds on time.

Tips and Tricks for playing MahJongCon

If you get stuck, you have a limited number of hints to help you along. For each level you complete, you’ll earn an extra hint. Try to save them up for the later stages of the game, where the time-pressure is toughest.

Game Controls

Use the mouse (or your finger on touchscreen devices) to tap and select the tiles.
